Confused? Don't be. It's not what you think it is: it looks similar but it's very much different. The Vanana Split is unique. Our original mould is set to be created from a unique one year only model, affectionately referred to as "mother". She originally started life with 15 windows, but we're filling in the rear corners and adding 3 roof windows to each side, 19 windows in total. We will also be offering 'rubber free' glazing and our glass will be sealed to the shell with a diffused spot pattern body colour to hide the sealant.
There is no sunroof in the original, so we're opening up the roof, not just any hole, but an aperture designed to suit both a full length fabric sunroof or a pop top roof* if you need a bit more headroom.
From the ground up, we're starting with a more rigid box section chassis platform, to this we bolt independent suspension units front and rear with disc brakes all round, no king and link pin and drum brakes, The gearbox is gone and the aircooled engine is transformed into a generator, power now comes from an electric battery pack and motor which is coupled to a sports differential sending power to the rear wheels. The 1600cc aircooled fuel injected generator is mounted in the same position as it is supposed to be and tops up the batteries via a switch in the cab when you are on longer journeys.
Then there's our beautiful front badge, moulded into the shell. It can't be replaced so no confusion there.
Internally, the dash will be smoothed with vdo gauges to allow you to keep a close eye on what your engine and battery are doing.
