Our specially designed laser cut 3mm thick box section chassis is fabricated in a bespoke steel jig, fully welded with birdsmouth joints for extra weld length and rigidity. The chassis is then hot dipped and galvanised inside and out, creating a long lasting rust proof coating.
Our chassis is not going anywhere. It's as rust proof as our body shell!
When we started this project emissions were always an issue and the van we feel lends itself to a greener image and whilst we love the throb of the aircooled heart, we needed a greener alternative. Weald Tech have an excellent background in propelling vehicles with electric motors, and together we have designed a beautiful package that will provide a minimum of one hundred miles of normal shops and back travel on one charge = no emissions = happy planet. If you're planning on going a little further then we've got that covered too.
There's a petrol tank in the back and when the batteries start to run low you'll be notified with a flashing light on the dash, press the button and the 1600cc aircooled fuel injected Harry Harpic generator will start and the batteries will start to recharge.
The emissions from the ex VW engine will be extremely low, built from all new parts, running at a continuous speed with the exact amount of fuel being injected for maximum efficiency the generator provides no propulsion to the Vanana and is therefore not subjected to the stresses and strains a standard engine experiences.
Speed wise, we'll get you to 70mph with some to spare and you'll be able to get from Lands end to John o Groats on one small tank of fuel with minimum emissions and the occaisional aircooled throb.
